EDT 300 Assignemt for 10-21-08

My name is Amanda Perzo and I am an Early Childhood/Elementary, and Special Education Major at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. This semester I became a School of Education Ambassador and I have really enjoyed my experience so far. I have also been accepted into the Golden Key International Honor Society, as I am recognized as being in the top fifteen percent of my class here at UAB.

As far as my teaching philosophy regarding the integration of computers in my classroom, I will fully support any and all integration. I believe that working on and with computers is a vital skill that all of my students will benefit from learning. I myself will be using a computer personally in my classroom and I also plan to fully utilize the use of computers with my students. The role of computers in my future learning at UAB is a crucial one. I use a computer in and for each and everyone of my classes. I especially need one so that I can update and submit my TEP Portfolio.Without a computer, the creation and submission of my Portfolio would not be possible. In my teaching, the computer will also play a vital role in my everyday classroom life. I will utilize it in the creation of Lesson and Unit Plans, as well as creating tests and assignments. I will also use it to communicate with parents, other teachers, and board members. My computer will also store and keep a running track of the grades of my students.

I expect to learn many things from my EDT 200 class. Among these things I plan on learning how to create a lesson plan by utilizing Microsoft Excel. I will also learn to create professional letters using Microsoft Word, which I will use in writting important letters to my parents or even school officials. A final thing that I will learn is how to create a unit plan using Microsoft Word, this is very important in my teaching career, as this will be used to assess and plan the work that I will conduct in my classroom.
